Since the holidays are the perfect time for sharing, what better to share than quality music from two Masters in their respective fields? Ustad Salamat Ali Khan’s son is singing this punjabi tappa. His name is Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan, the now torch-bearer of the Sham Chaurasia Gharana. Steeped in classical vocal training, Shafqat focuses on a light punjabi number in this video. On the tabla is Ustad Abdul Sattar Tari who certainly needs no introduction to those who know about tabla. He has almost single-handedly changed the style that tabla is played in Ghazals. So many try to emulate his style, yet there is only one Ustad Tari Khan. In this piece he is doing what he does best. Set in drut dadra, this fantastic number is both fun & energetic! Enjoy!!!
